A website and mobile app that uses real-time data to provide up-to-the-minute information on water quality, swimming conditions, and safety alerts.
Challenge
Auckland’s wastewater infrastructure has been under increasing pressure for more than a decade, creating risks for the city’s coastlines and waterways.
The challenge was to present this complex environmental and infrastructure data in a clear, accessible, and timely way that the public could trust, enabling locals to make safer, more informed decisions about water-based recreation.
Solution
Safeswim - delivering real-time water quality data and predictive modelling.
Safeswim uses a simple map interface with regularly updated swim safety pins, informed by data from beaches, waterways, and swimming spots across Auckland and Northland. For over eight years, Daylight has partnered with Auckland Council to refine the platform’s strategy, user experience, and brand, establishing Safeswim as an essential tool for anyone deciding where and when to swim.
